The Buzzi Bietti Refuge is reachable from Varenna or Valsassina starting from the town of Esino Lario - Cainallo. From here you drive to the Alpe Moncodeno VO (1436 meters above sea level.) where you can park your car. From the parking lot, follow the signposted Target 25 refuges Bietti - Bogani, arrived at the intersection of the bocchetta of Prada, follow the signposted 24 which leads to Rifugio Bietti Buzzi.
Along the way you meet a pretty little church surrounded by green beech, dedicated to the 89 'Brigade Poletti and from there reach the famous port of Prada. Just beyond, in a breathtaking lanscape, you'll arrive at the amphitheater of Releccio, in the center in a dominating positing stands the refuge.
The refuge is also accessible from Mandello del Lario (hamlet Somana) through signposted 15, with a height of 1300 meters and with a journey of 3 hours time.
At the refuge, the view will range from the Oberland Swiss Alps, the majestic Monterosa, Monte Viso up to the expanse of the Po Valley.
 The Bietti Buzzi Refuge, recently restored and reopened to the public, is the starting point for ascents of various levels leading up to the summit hut Brioschi: through the Canalone Guzzi (which leads to Cresta Piancaformia), easy to climb (about 1.30 h) and the Chimney (about 1.30 h and medium) and through the via dei Carbonari a fully equipped route (about 3 hours and greater difficulty).
The refuge is also near some famous historic climbing routes such as the Sasso Cavallo, Sasso of the Carbonari, with the cliffs of the ridge Pancaformia  just opened and equipped by young climbers!
For the less daring, not wishing to venture onto the trails of the Grigne, can watch in comfort rather a lot of game that usually wanders around the Refuge Bietti Buzzi ibex, chamois and grouse.
It's also difficult to forget that the refuge offers excellent cuisine ranging from local dishes, pizzoccheri, cheese, polenta and delicious dishes of meat! (Not to forget the fabulous homemade cakes prepared every day!)
We can say that there is always a good opportunity to pass by!
